Content policy
Last updated 2026-08-12
A game here can be anything you can describe, with a short list of exceptions. This page is that list, plus how to tell me when something on it turns up.
What must not be published
Illegal material
Anything unlawful under Norwegian law. Sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities and the account is closed without warning or appeal.
Code that attacks the player
A game is arbitrary code running in someone's browser, so this is the line that matters most here. No cryptocurrency mining. No loading further code from somewhere else at runtime. No attempting to escape the sandbox, reach the rest of the site, or read anything belonging to the player. No collecting a player's data or sending it anywhere. No pretending to be a sign-in page for this site or any other.
Work that is not yours
Assets, code, characters or trademarks you do not have the right to publish. An asset you found on the internet is not automatically free to ship, and neither is one an AI assistant put into your project on your behalf — you are the one publishing it.
Hate and harassment
Content attacking people over ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexuality. Games or comments made to target a specific person. Doxxing of any kind.
Adult and extreme content
No pornography, and no gratuitous gore. Games about conflict are fine; a game whose point is the violence is not. There is no age gate on this site, so assume a thirteen-year-old will open whatever you publish.
Deception
Phishing, scams, misleading store-style pages, fake download buttons, or a thumbnail and title advertising a game other than the one you published.
Crediting assets
Most free assets are free on a condition — CC-BY wants a credit, an SIL font wants its licence carried along, and a Creative Commons sound wants its author named. Every game has a credits field for exactly this, shown on the game's page.
If an asset in your game asks for attribution, put it in the credits before you publish. Name the asset, the author, and the licence.
If you are unsure whether something needs crediting, credit it. Nobody has ever been sued for being too generous about it.
Comments
Say what you think about the game. Do not go after the person who made it. Spam, advertising and links to unrelated sites are removed, and the same rules above apply to a comment as to a game.
Reporting something
Every game page and every comment has a report link. It takes a moment and it goes straight to a queue that one person actually reads. You do not need an account to report a game.
Reports are not shown to the person you reported. Filing obviously false reports to harass someone is itself a breach of this policy.
Copyright takedowns
If something here uses your work without permission, write to abuse@kiln-games.com with:
- A link to the game or comment.
- What of yours is in it, and where the original lives.
- Confirmation that you hold the rights, or act for whoever does.
- How to reach you.
Clear cases are taken down on sight and the publisher is told what happened and by whom, so they can answer. If they answer well, it can go back up.
What happens when a rule is broken
There is no formal strike system, because there is no formal moderation team — there is one person reading the queue. In practice: a first mistake made in good faith gets the content removed and an email explaining why. Deliberate breaches lose the publishing grant. Malware, sexual content involving minors, and campaigns against a person lose the account immediately.
Every removal can be argued with, at abuse@kiln-games.com.
